Walker will be a brand ambassador and sport the Freeman logo on apparel, headwear and her tour bag. She will make her first appearance representing the brand at US Open qualifying at the Buckinghamshire Golf Club on May 25th.
“Sophie Walker is a fantastic ambassador for Freeman and the exhibition and events industry as a whole,” said Greg Cherry, Business Development Director in EMEA for Freeman. “This is a new type of partnership for us and one that perfectly complements our industry. In her role as brand ambassador, Sophie will be attending a number of industry golf days as well as speaker opportunities talking about what lessons from the world of golf can be applied to the world of events.”
Walker added: “I’m delighted to join Freeman as a brand ambassador. I look forward to promoting Freeman and celebrating the events industry - one that is as alive and highly dynamic as golf - as I travel the world competing on the Ladies European Tour.”
Walker was destined for a career in golf, having first held a club at just 18 months of age. She went on to play for England at age 15, and joined the senior squad at 18, where she played as a full time amateur while studying at university.
She counts winning the English Ladies Strokeplay in 2003 and finishing second in the European Team as highlights of her amateur career.
Walker has achieved a number of impressive results since turning professional in October 2006. These include placing third in the Dubai Ladies Pro-Am in 2009, taking second spot in the Ladies Scottish Open in 2010, and securing sixth place in the Victorian Open last year.
Walker has a busy schedule planned for 2016, with events including the Ricoh Women’s British Open, Olympic Games in Rio and Lacoste Ladies Open De France all on her radar.
