Bruce Vaughn

Bruce Vaughn spent the last 28 years in the Experience Design industry, where he held many executive roles focused on integrating creative and technical innovation in service of extraordinary consumer experiences.

Up until April 2016, Bruce Vaughn served as Chief Creative Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), the creative delivery arm of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. For eight years, Bruce led the integrated creative teams of WDI, Walt Disney Creative Entertainment and WDI Research and Development to drive excellence in product development and innovation. His responsibilities spanned theme park attractions and special effects, innovative theater experiences, and new business opportunities that leverage invented and emerging technologies.

Vaughn joined WDI in 1993 as a special effects designer and camera man. During his 28 year tenure at Disney, he spent time as a writer for Theme Park Productions and associate media producer. Since then, Bruce has been involved in disciplines across The Walt Disney Company, including feature animation, television, theatrical, music, Internet, consumer products and location-based entertainment.

Bruce is a professor and serves on the board of UCLA's Theater, Film and Television School, where he taught "Imagineering: The Art and Process of Entertainment Design,” as well as helping create a new Virtual Reality department. He served as co-chairman of the Disney Research Council along with Ed Catmull (President, Pixar Animation and Walt Disney Feature Animation), which oversees the group that performs a broad range of research and technical innovation for several areas of The Walt Disney Company. He is a singer/song writer and avid sailor.
