Chairman Emeritus

Donald S. (Don) Freeman, Jr. is chairman emeritus of The Freeman Company. He joined the family business in 1964, after his father Buck Freeman founded the company in 1927.

Under Don’s leadership, Freeman has grown to become the world’s largest provider of brand experiences. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Don was commissioned and served in the Supply Corps for four years.During his 30+ years leading Freeman, Don successfully built and maintained Freeman’s reputation for innovation, leadership, creativity, and integrity. He accomplished this through his vast industry expertise, which today allows him to serve as a trusted advisor to both the company’s current senior leadership and next generation of talent. In July of 2019, Don transitioned to the chairman emeritus role, and the leadership of the company to the third generation of the Freeman family, naming daughter Carrie Freeman Parsons as chair.

His relationships in the industry are unmatched, and he is recognized and respected as a true thought leader. Among his numerous acknowledgements, he is a proud member of the Convention Industry Council’s Hall of Leaders, has received the Trade Show Exhibitors Association Distinguished Service Award, the Professional Convention Management Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and is a member of the U.S. Travel Association’s Hall of Leaders.

Don is similarly active in his local community; he has served as the chairman of the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau and on the board of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife, Beverley, are avid supporters of the Dallas Museum of Art.
