Margot Carter

Board Member

Margot Carter is a global, strategic C-Suite leader and lead independent director for cutting edge technology, big data analytics, digital marketing, and construction businesses in the vacation, real estate, education, technology and the financial services industries.

Margot’s broad business, strategic, business development, acquisition, legal and technical experience spans a full range of global public and private companies and directly contributed to rapid growth into new products, services and markets worldwide.

Margot is the Lead Director, Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee and a member of the Audit Committee of Installed Building Products, Inc. (NYSE:IBP), a leading installer of building products. She also sits on the board of directors of a number of private businesses, including Ready4, a company revolutionizing mobile learning and Cien, Inc., an artificial intelligence company for sales teams. She is currently on the Executive Board and Membership Co-Chair of the North Texas chapter of the NACD.

From 2010 through 2015, Margot has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary for RealPage, Inc., a leading global property management software solutions and big data company where she played a critical roll in the Company’s IPO, financings, acquisitions, business development and rapid growth worldwide transforming the industry.

For the past 20 years, she served as part of the C-Suite of several global public companies including, Princeton Review, Inc. through the sale to Bain Capital Ventures, Soundview Technology Group through the sale to The Charles Schwab Corporation, Cantor Fitzgerald through the rebuilding after 9/11 and was part of the founding management team and IPO of SourceCorp. Margot started her career at Morgan Lewis in NYC.

Margot has won multiple recognition awards, including Star Business Women from Harvard Business School, Best Department from RealPage and Princeton Review, Corporate Counsel from Association of Corporate Counsel and D Magazine, and Magna Stella by the General Counsel Forum.

Margot received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and her B.A. from Binghamton University. She studied finance at the Cox Business School at Southern Methodist University and attended the Directors College at Stanford University.
